The
detailed policies and procedures which evolved at the Camarillo-UCLA
Clinical Research Unit during its 23 years of productive clinical and
research activity are described in this manual. The procedures include
utilitarian and "user-friendly" behavioral assessment forms for
Mealtime Eating Skills, Rise & Shine Morning Awakening Routine,
Grooming Skills, Room Maintenance, Token Economy, Recreational
Activities, and Management of Aggressive Behavior. These procedures
have been refined and used reliably for 24 years by several generations
of psychiatric technicians, nurses, rehab therapists, social workers,
psychologists and psychiatrists in the longest-lived behavior therapy
inpatient unit in the world.. While initially developed for
hospitalized patients, the policies and procedures have been
effectively adapted for partial hospitalization and day treatment
programs for the seriously mentally ill.
